Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences (KCU) joined medical schools across the nation in fostering the human element of medicine by installing its first members of the Gold Humanism Honor Society (GHHS) from the KCU class of 2017 on Friday, June 24, 2016.

Royce Keilers, DO, a member of the 1965 graduating class of Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences (KCU), received Heart to Heart International’s (HHI) 2016 Power of One Award for his life’s work to advance primary care medicine and build bridges between people, organizations and cultures.

Score 1 for Health, an outreach program of Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, has received a two-year grant in the amount of $175,000 from the Healthcare Foundation of Greater Kansas City. This funding will be used to expand CHAMPS (Coaching Health and Movement Program with Students), a successful pilot program that enlists volunteer medical students as health coaches for children identified as at risk for obesity.

Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences (KCU) today welcomes Paula M. Gregory, DO, as dean of its new College of Osteopathic Medicine in Joplin, Missouri.

KCU held its centennial commencement ceremony for the class of 2016 at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Missouri on May 7. KCU celebrated its 100th year of graduating physicians, as well as its 11th year of graduating scientists. The University’s centennial year marks KCU’s largest class in history with 343 graduates.

Terry and Peggy Dunn named Nonprofit Connect's 2016 “Volunteers of the Year” for their far-reaching civic leadership and volunteerism. KCU's Schoen W. Kruse, PhD, and John Graneto, DO, were inducted into the 2016 National Academy of Osteopathic Medical Educators (NAOME) Fellows by the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Kruse is assistant dean for academic affairs at KCU; Dr. Graneto is an associate dean.
