Dale W. Bratzler, DO, MPH, MACOI, FIDSA

As dean of the University of Oklahoma (OU) Hudson College of Public Health and Chief Efficiency Officer for OU Health, Dale W. Bratzler, DO, MPH, MACOI, FIDSA, is a nationally recognized leader in public health, health care quality and infectious disease prevention. A 1981 graduate of Kansas City University College of Osteopathic MedIcine and a board-certified internal medicine physician, he continues to care for underserved patients while leading efforts to improve health care quality, population health and health policy at the state and national levels.

Bratzler also serves as a professor in the OU College of Public Health and College of Medicine, where he teaches and mentors future physicians and public health professionals. Internationally recognized for his expertise in health care quality improvement, he has led influential research on surgical site infections and adult vaccinations for more than two decades. He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications, including articles in The New England Journal of Medicine and JAMA, with nearly 25,000 citations according to Google Scholar.

Throughout his career, Bratzler has helped shape national health policy through appointments to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee and the Medicare Evidence Development and Coverage Advisory Committee. In 2020, he served as the OU's Chief COVID Officer, leading the institution's pandemic response while continuing to advance initiatives that improve health care quality and population health.

His many honors include being named a Master Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists, a Fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, receiving the OU Distinguished Service Citation and being recognized among The Journal Record's Most Influential Oklahomans.
