Alumni Directory Frequently Asked Questions

I. I received an email/postcard/phone call from a company asking for my personal information. They said they were working with Kansas City University. What does this entail?

We have partnered with PCI (also known as Publishing Concepts) to produce our new alumni directory. PCI is a family-owned business based in Dallas that has published directories for educational institutions, fraternities, sororities and military organizations across the nation for more than 100 years.

II. How does KCU benefit from this initiative?

  • This project helps us ensure that we have current contact information for our database so we can better serve and engage with our alumni.
  • The University’s historical class data is preserved.
  • Confirming your specialty and career information helps us connect students with alumni who can provide mentorship, guidance and networking opportunities tailored to their specific interests and career aspirations.

III. How do I know my information will only be used for directory purposes?

PCI is committed to protecting your information. The names, addresses and information provided to PCI for the publication of the directory will be held confidential by PCI, except to the extent that they are utilized in, or in the preparation of, the directory and except as required by court order or law.

IV. I would like to verify or update my information. How may I do this?

  • If you received a postcard with a telephone number, you may call the number to speak with a PCI representative to verify the information we have on file for you and make updates if needed.
  • If you received an email with an embedded link, simply click the link to go to the website and review your information.
  • If you did not receive a postcard or email, you may call 816-654-7280.
  • If you live outside of the U.S. or are unable to call, please email [email protected]. PCI will send you a personalized link to update your information.

V. Can I choose what information prints in the directory?

When you call to update your information, you can tell the representative if you would like any of your information to be excluded. You can also communicate your preferences to PCI’s customer service helpdesk at 1-800-982-1590, [email protected] or by calling KCU at 816-654-7280.

VI. Can anyone purchase a directory?

The Kansas City University Alumni Directory is available for sale only to KCU alumni. You will be listed in the directory even if you decide not to purchase a copy.

VII. I received a mailing from KCU asking me to confirm information in June. Is this the same thing?

The mailing in June was to donors from KCU’s Office of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement and is confirming contact and donor recognition preferences for our offices. PCI will be asking for different, more detailed information in their outreach. This information will be used to populate the alumni directory. You will be listed in the directory regardless of whether or not you purchase a copy.

VIII. When will I receive my directory?

The total duration of the directory project is about 12 months. Since we began the project in August 2024, the directories will be distributed in August 2025.
