Frequently Asked Questions about Virtual Interview Day

What should I wear?

While we encourage individuality please remember that even though this is a virtual interview we still expect you to understand that this is a professional interview and should be viewed as such. The safest choice for any interview is a suit in a conservative color. It is perfectly fine to wear a blouse, shirt or tie that has some color.

Additionally, consider what may be in the background of your {camera/screen/video} when you turn on your webcam.

How should I prepare for the interviews?

Make yourself familiar with our mission and values so that you can begin to see if you will be a good fit for our University. Review your AACOMAS and KCU Secondary applications, including your personal statement and activities.

Navigate to https://zoom.us/signup and create your free account. Once you have created your profile take some time to familiarize yourself with the software. If you are able, have a friend or family member create an account so you can practice and make sure that you have as many of the technical kinks worked out as possible.

What happens if I am quarantined at home with others?

If you are sheltering or quarantined at this time, we encourage you to have a conversation with your family or roommates to let them know ahead of time that you will be interviewing. Encourage them to set aside some quiet time so that you can complete your interview uninterrupted if at all possible.

What if I am unable to connect or have technical issues?

While we fully expect you to be technically prepared for the day, we understand that things outside of your control, may interfere with you completing your video interview.

Video Issues - As a last resort there will be an option to switch to an audio call with no video.

No Video or Audio - If you find yourself running into this issue, please call and notify us as soon as possible so that we can make necessary arrangements on our end. Call our Admissions Office at 816-654-7160 and leave a voicemail with your phone number so we can get back in touch with you about what to do next.

What is the purpose of the Non-disclosure?

The purpose of the NDA is simply to maintain the integrity of KCU’s interview process. We ask all students, whether they interview on campus or with us virtually online to sign an agreement not to disclose specific information, i.e. questions or activities within the interview, with any person outside of KCU faculty, staff, or student ambassadors.  KCU reserves the right to withdraw an offer of admission or a waitlist offer to any student found sharing this information in public or online.

Will my interview be recorded?

No, KCU will not be recording interviews. If an interviewer tells you that they are recording, or you think that they are, please contact us after your interview.
