Dear KCU Community,

As we enter fall, both of our campuses are busy with wide-ranging and far-reaching activities. Score 1 for Health offers an opportunity for our student doctors to practice their clinical skills by providing health screenings for children in grades K-5. Score 1 was founded 29 years ago by Kansas City Chiefs Hall of Honor member, Deron Cherry, and the late Robert Ricci, DO (COM ‘68). KCU students have screened more than 250,000 children and flagged hundreds of undetected health issues, potentially saving lives, since the program began. We so appreciate the excellent leadership of Score 1’s director, Annette Campbell, MPA, RN, over these many years.

Homecoming was held in person for the first time since the pandemic, and judging by our turnout, people were eager to get back to seeing friends in person. I am sure you will enjoy the multigenerational story about one of our alums, Norbert Conrad, DO, (COM ‘52) whose granddaughter is a first-year COB student.

Take a look at the other inspiring stories in this issue. We never have to look very far to find stories of the KCU family making a difference and improving the well-being of the communities we serve.

Yours truly,
