KCU is proud to acknowledge the important research of student doctor Ryan Coute, whose work as a Sarnoff Fellow has been published in the prestigious Journal of the American Heart Association and featured on the AHA website.
The study found that while cardiac arrest is a leading cause of death in the U.S., it gets just a fraction of the government’s funding for medical research. The study is the first to analyze and describe the trend in cardiac arrest research funding in nation.
“We are very grateful to AHA for featuring our work,” said Coute. “Like any disease, research funding is necessary to improve outcomes. We hope that the results will help inform the debate regarding optimal funding for cardiac arrest in our country.”
Coute, a medical student at KCU slated to graduate in May of 2018, plans to pursue a career in emergency medicine with a strong commitment to resuscitation science.
