Inside KCU - November 2022

Dear KCU Community,

 Thanksgiving is a time to count our blessings. I am grateful for all of you who share your talent, your time and your gifts to make KCU a welcoming and engaging health sciences university for our students and the communities we serve. As a part of this community we are grateful for by each person and their individual contribution to our mission, vision and values. Students, faculty, staff and alums are all vital to our success.

In this issue of Inside KCU we have a number of great stories that highlight the contributions of our faculty, staff, students and alumnae. Each of the stories are ones of recognition, first-year student doctor Alexis Marquez, OMS I, was the first Arnstein Minority Student Scholarship recipient. Assistant Professor of Primary Care, Robert Arnce, MD, was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame. Student doctor Winston Sorhaitz, OMS III, while based in Fort Meyers for his clinical rotation, found his life upended and the city devastated by Hurricane Ian. His story of action and the others of service are inspiring and I invite you to read about each of them.

The new year will bring both opportunities and challenges. Our values of excellence, empathy and equity will help guide us through whatever the year brings. At KCU we are fortunate we can count on each other to bring our best so we can build upon our 100+ year history, along with the innovations of today and a steady eye on the new year for improving the well-being of the communities we serve.
