Joseph Williams EdD, MS
Director of COM Assessment and Analytics / Assistant Professor of College of Osteopathic Medicine
Dr. Williams is a cell and molecular biology and bioinformatics researcher whose work focuses on developing predictive models that leverage clinical, genomic, and electronic health record data to investigate early detection of tumor development and to support data-informed decision-making in underserved healthcare communities. His research emphasizes the use of AI-driven pattern recognition, feature extraction, and risk modeling to strengthen translational pipelines that connect computational insights to real-world clinical practice.
In addition to his biomedical data science work, Dr. Williams also oversees research in medical education that examines how artificial intelligence, assessment analytics, and competency mapping can enhance student learning and performance. His projects include advancing the quality of examinations through psychometric evaluation, integrating AI into the early medical curriculum, and establishing ethical frameworks to guide responsible AI adoption by future clinicians.
