When will I receive my iPad?

You will have an opportunity to pick up your iPad on Thursday, July 23 or Friday, July 24. More information will be provided during Orientation.

When will I pick up my medical equipment kit?

If you ordered a medical equipment kit through KCU’s Campus Store, or if you would still like to purchase one, you will have an opportunity to pick it up and provide payment on Thursday, July 23 or Friday, July 24. More information will be provided during Orientation.

Is there a dress code for online orientation activities?

Business casual attire is recommended for online orientation activities. That said, we recognize that web-based meetings typically fall more on the casual side of that recommendation. We encourage you to be comfortable while maintaining a polished and professional appearance in live video conferences.

When will we receive our white coats?

Current guidelines restrict students’ access to campus. For this reason, white coats will be distributed later this fall.

When will we have access to the KCU Single Sign On and my KCU email address?

Onboarding emails were sent to incoming COM 2024 students on Monday, June 1. Once you complete the onboarding process, you will have access to your University email account, Canvas, and KCU’s other web-based services. If you did not receive an onboarding email, please email registrar@kcumb.edu.

What are the plans for anatomy and osteopathic skills labs this fall?

We encourage you to review information regarding the delivery of anatomy labs. The Academic Affairs team is working diligently on a detailed plan for lab activities. Please continue to watch your email for updates as they become available.

Where can I find the 2020-2021 academic calendar?

A detailed, daily schedule for the academic year has not yet been released. Session start and end dates are available here. More details will be made available during Med School 101.

Do I really need to move to Kansas City or Joplin in July if Orientation will take place online?

Yes. All students are expected to be in the community that houses their campus by Monday, July 13. This will allow you time to settle in and self-quarantine as necessary before classes begin on Monday, July 27. You may be asked to appear on campus for small group activities that fall in accordance with health protocols during this time.

Does the University provide a health insurance plan for students?

All KCU students are required to have health insurance. The University offers a student health insurance plan (SHIP) through Blue Cross and Blue Shield. View introductory information from Accepted Students Day. Details regarding this year’s health insurance plan and enrollment process will be shared during Orientation.

How do I enroll in the KCU Student Health Insurance Plan?

Enrollment for the KCU SHIP is open from July 1 through August 31, 2020. If you have any questions regarding the plan or the waiver process, you will have an opportunity to review additional information and ask questions during Orientation.

I am turning 26 this year. Can I remain on my parents’ health insurance plan until then, or do I need to purchase SHIP during the open enrollment period?

If you wish to remain on your parents’ health insurance plan, you must apply for a waiver to confirm that their plan meets KCU’s minimum requirements for student health insurance. View additional information here. The waiver process will take place during open enrollment. If your current plan is approved, your birthday will be considered a qualifying life event, and we will ask that you please request a Qualifying Life Event Form at least 30 days prior to your birthday, so that you can enroll in SHIP outside of the open enrollment period. If your current plan does not meet KCU’s minimum requirements, you will be required to enroll in SHIP or purchase an outside plan that is compliant.

When will the KCU Student Health Insurance Plan take effect?

Coverage for those who enroll in the KCU SHIP begins Wednesday, August 1, 2020, and extends through Saturday, July 31, 2021.

Can my spouse sign up for the KCU Student Health Insurance Plan?

The KCU SHIP allows for enrollment of student spouses and dependent children. View additional information here. Rates and detailed coverage information will be available during Orientation.
