DO/Masters in Bioethics

Advances in stem cell research and genetic engineering, the globalization of medical practice and health care policy, and the relationships between environmental quality and human health have raised critical ethical issues in medicine. As a doctor also trained in bioethics, you’ll provide leadership in addressing these vital ethical challenges.

The KCU dual degree program provides a broad orientation to the interdisciplinary field of bioethics, including an in-depth examination of philosophical and religious ethics. You can complete both the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and Master of Arts in Bioethics at the end of four years.

  • Be in good academic standing within the College of Osteopathic Medicine at KCU.
  • Submit an application and brief essay regarding why you want to enroll in the Bioethics Dual Degree Program.
  • First year students will submit their applications by the Monday after Thanksgiving with classes beginning the following January.

Why A Degree in Biomedical Ethics?

Dr. David Sine, chair of the KCU bioethics department, introduces this video series that explains why a degree in biomedical ethics can help you navigate your daily life as a physician and add value to the quality of your work. End of life decisions, beginning of life decisions, and everything in between, can be better informed by having a bioethics degree.

DO/MBA in Health Care Leadership

At both of our KCU campuses we offer an innovative program through which selected medical students can earn dual degrees – a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from KCU and a Master of Business Administration in health care leadership.

In the new managed-care environment, physicians need to balance the quality of health care with considerations of cost. Through this program, you’ll become knowledgeable in the management languages of accounting, economics, finance, human resources, information technology, law, marketing and management.

You’ll learn the sound business practices essential to providing quality, holistic care for patients and will be exposed to the best management and leadership practices used by the industry today.

The MBA portion of the degree has been tailored to accommodate our medical program and to allow you to graduate with your entering class.
