KCU team members honored among 20 to Know in Health Care

Kansas City University (KCU) congratulates Richard Schooler, DO, vice president of the Farber-McIntire Campus and founding dean of the College of Health Professions, Sarah J. Hon, DO, KCU clinical professor of Neurology and Vishal Adma, MD, KCU adjunct professor of Psychiatry, on their inclusion in the Kansas City Business Journal 20 to Know in Health Care.

Schooler, a 1980 graduate of the College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM) at KCU, returned to the University in 2022 as vice president of KCU-Joplin. In August, he was named founding dean of the College of Health Professions, which will welcome its inaugural class of anesthesiologist assistants in January 2026.

“Dr. Schooler brings nearly 40 years of experience as a physician, health care executive, and educator,” said Edward O’Connor, PhD, MBA, FACHE, provost and vice president for Academic, Research and Student Affairs at KCU."

Hon, a 1993 KCU-COM alumna, became president of the Kansas City Medical Society in 2025 and has served as a clinical professor of Neurology at KCU for more than 20 years. With a passion for teaching, she has advised and mentored countless students throughout her career.

Adma, founding member and president of Integrated Psychiatric Consultants, has dedicated his career to improving care across hospital, academic and international settings. He is a tremendous teacher and mentor for KCU students, sharing his expertise and passion for advancing psychiatric care.
