MVC and KCU Pathway

Kansas City University (KCU) and Missouri Valley College (MVC) announced a new academic partnership that creates an accelerated pathway for high-achieving MVC Honors College students. The agreement enables qualifying students to earn a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or a Doctor of Dental Medicine at KCU in seven years—a year earlier than the traditional route.

Selection is based on a variety of factors, including ACT or SAT scores, academic performance, community service and citizenship. Those selected for the program will attend KCU as full-time, first-year students following their junior year at MVC, after completing specific coursework. Bachelor’s degrees from MVC will be awarded upon successful completion of the first year at KCU.

In addition to accelerated medical and dental tracks, MVC honors students also have a clear path to pursue a Doctor of Clinical Psychology at KCU. Admission is based on academic performance, demonstrated clinical experience, community service and faculty recommendations. Students in all pathways will benefit from early advising and structured support throughout their undergraduate years to help prepare them for doctoral-level training.

“We’re excited to deepen our partnership with Missouri Valley College,” said Marc B. Hahn, DO, president and CEO of KCU. “Together, we can open new doors for students pursuing careers in health and medicine—and, in turn, help more Missourians gain access to the care they deserve. Guided by our shared values, we’re working to strengthen the health of communities across our state and beyond.”

Echoing that sentiment, MVC president Joe Parisi added, “This is an incredible opportunity for our students. KCU has a wonderful mix of global and rural students, and is the perfect fit for us.”

This new partnership reflects the ongoing commitment of KCU to addressing health care workforce shortages across Missouri and the surrounding region. Through meaningful academic pathways and early preparation for advanced degrees in health sciences, the University is helping build a stronger pipeline of future physicians, dentists and clinical psychologists equipped to meet the evolving needs of patients and communities.
