KCU’s Center for Medical Education Innovation wears the colors of PRIDE in support of the LGBTQIA+ communities.

Dear KCU Community,

June is PRIDE month when the world's LGBTQIA+ communities come together and celebrate the freedom to be themselves.

At KCU, we are proud of the many ways our campus communities embrace inclusion. A new and recent effort to expand the reach of our physician training curriculum includes the often-ignored topics such as caring for LGBTQIA+ patients, patients with HIV or substance use disorders and poverty which lead to poor access of care. KCU graduates will be uniquely prepared to improve the well-being of the communities we serve.

One of our newest educators, Dr. Benjamin Grin, masterfully integrated many of the social determinants of health into his new lecture series, magnifying yet another of our core values – empathy – and cultivating the keen understanding of the needs of each patient.

LEARNING BY LISTENING TO FIRSTHAND EXPERIENCE

Dr. Benjamin Grin teaches first-and second-year KCU students how to care for patients living with HIV/AIDS, LGBTQIA+ patients and those with substance use disorders.

CDM APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN

On June 1, KCU reached a significant milestone when the application

portal for prospective College of Dental Medicine students opened.

HELPING STUDENTS THRIVE

KCU's Thrive program is designed to teach, coach and connect health care professionals of the future to strengthen resilience, reduce burnout and facilitate social belonging.

BIOINFORMATICS: THE TECH SIDE OF BIOSCIENCES

KCU Biomedical Sciences offers courses in data, database, software design and bioanalytical computer coding.

KCU HONORS DR. LAURA ROSCH

KCU faculty and staff celebrated Dr. Rosch and her service as Joplin campus dean from 2019-2022. Dr. Rosch will become dean of Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University.
