Dear KCU Community,

On this Veterans Day, I ask that we all remember the extraordinary number of women and men who, throughout history, have selflessly dedicated themselves to protecting our country through their service in the United States Armed Forces.

I am also reminded of Kansas City University’s proud tradition of military service and of our unique place in history, having an alumnus that was the first osteopathic physician admitted into the Medical Corps of the U.S. Armed Forces. Harry J. Walter, DO (COM ’65), was commissioned into the Air Force as a medical officer in 1966, opening the door for thousands of DOs who have followed with distinguished military service.

Over the years, countless KCU-COM graduates have helped to ensure our country’s safety and provided our service members and their families with high-quality, compassionate medical care. In the last five years alone, 116 KCU-COM graduates have served and/or will continue to serve our U.S. Armed Forces.

As a veteran, I am proud to have served our country, and I also offer my appreciation to those who took the oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States.

Yours truly,

Marc B. Hahn, DO

President and Chief Executive Officer
