Student Success

Graduates from KCU's College of Biosciences find rewarding careers in the biomedical sciences and solid foundations for entering doctoral and professional programs.

Megan Wheeler

“I don’t know if I would have gotten into medical school if it wasn’t for the College of Biosciences. I knew the swing of medical school applications before attending COB, but through KCU’s professional development series I learned how to do interviews and what to put on interview statements.”

- Megan Wheeler, Masters of Biomedical Sciences 2017 graduate and KCU-Joplin MSI

Joshua Beckler

"My experience in the College of Biosciences taught me what it means to be a professional student. It taught me to set my own standards, work hard to succeed, keep my own values and build strong habits. I felt supported by everyone from the ground up in the College of Biosciences. They want everyone to succeed. Dr. Robert White met with us every morning during my summer research fellowship. He served as a mentor, giving us direction and feedback. Regardless if you have a future in research or clinical medicine, research experience will benefit you long-term."

- Joshua Beckler, Masters of Biomedical Sciences 2016 graduate and KCU-Kansas City MSII

While in the master's program, Joshua worked alongside Dr. Robert White, Dean of the College of Biosciences, on novel therapy to treat Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. His poster presentation on the research won the Norbert Siedler Award for Research at the 2017 Research Symposium.
