Hitesh Chopra, DDS, PhD, MS

Assistant Professor of Endodontics

Dr. Chopra is a globally trained clinician-scientist whose cross-continental academic trajectory shapes his approach to research, clinical care and teaching. He earned his PhD with distinction in endodontics from the Faculty of Dentistry at The University of Hong Kong, with a special emphasis on stem cell biology, and completed a prestigious NIH-funded post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry.

His research centers on the development of patient-centered regenerative therapies for dental and craniofacial tissues. By integrating oral-derived mesenchymal stem cells, tissue-specific hydrogels, 3D-printed scaffolds and bioactive biomaterials, he engineers microenvironments that support authentic tissue regeneration and long-term healing. Drawing on molecular biology, biomaterials engineering, transcriptomics and advanced imaging, he investigates both fundamental and translational aspects of regenerative science.

With a long-term vision of making regenerative dentistry the standard of care, Dr. Chopra is committed to advancing interdisciplinary collaboration, translational breakthroughs and mentorship that shapes the next generation of clinician-scientists.
