Tyrone Adcock, DO

Assistant Professor of Primary Care

Dr. Adcock is an Assistant Professor at the KCU-Joplin campus and retired Obstetrician and Gynecologist. His subspecialties were Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery and Urogynecology (FPMRS). He retired from clinical practice in December of 2024 He retains board certification with the American Board of Ob/Gyn. Prior to joining KCU as a full-time faculty member, he served as an adjunct professor, teaching clinical medicine for 14 years. While practicing, his research interests were hereditary breast and ovarian cancer (HBOC), vulvar-vaginal dermatology and mucosal wound healing. 

Aside from other collaborative projects, Dr. Adcock is working with Dr. Joseph Williams on a project which queries a high-risk genetics clinic database, using AI and large language models to analyze genetic mutations with concomitant comorbidities This project includes thousands of patient records. It is a unique project between a large private oncology clinic and KCU.  

Dr. Adcock is also working with faculty members from MSSU on a study that will assess patient frailty and provide rehabilitative alternatives. This project will use recently developed, novel, devices to both assess movement/mobility and test non-weight bearing modalities as rehabilitative options This study will also use protocols developed by the American College of Sports Medicine. The goal of these studies will be to improve health, conditioning and decrease frailty in patients.  

Dr. Adcock serves as a national faculty member and COMAT subcommittee member with the NBOME. He is a member of the Association of Professors of Ob/Gyn (APGO), and a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG).
