We’re proud to announce that Kansas City University (KCU) was recently named as one of Kansas City’s 2024 Healthiest Employers by the Kansas City Business Journal for the fourth year in a row. This prestigious accolade reflects KCU's unwavering commitment to prioritizing the well-being of its employees through its KCyou Well-Being program.
The assessment, conducted by the Kansas City Business Journal in collaboration with Healthiest Employers LLC, a prominent data and research company, evaluates companies based on various criteria including wellness program culture, leadership commitment, life-work flexibility, mental health and family benefits, physical health resources, financial well-being, and more. KCU's dedication to fostering a holistic approach to employee health stood out, earning the institution this notable recognition.
“As a health sciences university, KCU is dedicated to fostering a culture of health and wellness, which is foundational to our mission of “improving the well-being of the communities we serve,” said Marc B. Hahn, DO, president and CEO of KCU. “This commitment extends to our valued community of faculty and staff, and investment in comprehensive programs and benefits we’re able to provide. I appreciate our team’s strong interest and participation, and I am grateful once again for this important recognition of our success in the workplace.”
In addition, KCU has just been awarded the 2024 Platinum Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health by Mental Health America (MHA) for the third year in a row. The Bell Seal is a first-of-its-kind workplace mental health certification recognizing employers striving to create mentally healthy workplaces for their employees.
The Bell Seal recognizes employer advances in workplace mental health by awarding Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum recognition levels. Only 1 in 4 employers meet the standards for Bell Seal certification. KCU underwent a rigorous evaluation of its policies and practices in four areas: workplace culture, benefits, compliance, and wellness programs.
Jamie Hirshey, director of human resources at KCU, expressed her pride in the KCU community for actively engaging in the KCyou Well-Being program and making the most of its offerings to maintain their health and wellness. She emphasized, "We are incredibly proud of our employees for their commitment to their well-being.
