April is Celebrate Diversity Month

Started in 2004, Celebrate Diversity Month was organized to recognize and honor the diversity surrounding us all. By celebrating differences and similarities during this month, we hope that people will get a deeper understanding of each other.

We challenge everyone to broaden their view of the world, and take some time to learn about cultures, populations or religions that are different from your own. We offer you some ways you can get started learning more about our differences.

Below are a few curated lists of films and documentaries, books, podcasts and volunteer opportunities to help you learn more about other cultures, populations, identities and religions.

April is Religious Diversity Month

Religious Diversity is also featured in April due to the Spring religious holidays. Learning about other religions is another way you can celebrate diversity. Here are a few ways to learn more right from your browser.

Celebrate Diversity by Volunteering

There is no focus this month on a particular population or culture since we are celebrating ALL diversity, and in honor of that, we've pulled general links from VolunteerMatch.org for the Kansas City and Joplin campus communities.
