Kansas City University (KCU), has named Elizabeth Alex as executive director of University Relations. In this role, Alex will provide strategic leadership for the development, implementation and measurement of integrated communications and marketing strategy to build, drive and support the image and reputation of KCU. She will oversee the organization’s branding, digital and traditional marketing as well as event planning, public relations and collaborative community outreach activities.
Alex previously served as KCU’s senior director of public relations and community outreach for nearly eight years. In this role Alex was instrumental in building community relationships, placing faculty members as experts in multiple local and national publications and raising the visibility of KCU.
Prior to her tenure at KCU, Alex anchored the nightly newscast for KSHB, the NBC affiliate in Kansas City, Mo., a post she held for 17 years before serving as director of community outreach and media relations for Unbound, an international nonprofit.

Hahn, DO, president and CEO of KCU. “She has a deep understanding of KCU’s mission of improving the well-being of the communities we serve, and the importance of telling the KCU story through public relations, events and innovative strategies.”

Alex is a native Kansas City. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in journalism at University of Arkansas.
