When the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) selected Kansas City as the location for its annual conference, Educating Leaders 2024, it presented an opportunity for KCU to host our osteopathic colleagues, showcasing cutting-edge technology, innovative curriculum and campus and impressive research across all KCU colleges.
Over the course of four days, KCU hosted sessions for AACOM’s Assembly of Presidents, Marketing and Communications Advisory Council, Council of Osteopathic Librarians, Council for Information Technology and clinical deans.
On the final day of the conference, the University hosted an osteopathic medical school recruitment fair for prospective medical students and their families. The more than 400 participants had the opportunity to participate in campus tours led by KCU student ambassadors, sit in on osteopathic medical manipulation (OMM) demonstrations and learn about osteopathic medicine directly from a college dean panel that included Josh Cox, DO, executive dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine at KCU.
KCU had impressive representation during the poster presentation portion of the conference with more than 30 faculty and staff members participating.
Educating Leaders 2024 represented the forefront of innovation, collaboration, and excellence in osteopathic medical education with a dynamic platform where thought leaders, educators, health care professionals, students and industry experts converged to shape the future of health care and medical education.
“We were honored to have this national organization representing all of our colleges of osteopathic medicine, here in Kansas City for the Educating Leaders 24 Conference. In addition to KCU hosting AACOM-related events on our campus, several of our students, faculty, staff, and administrators gave oral and poster presentations at the conference sessions on a number of important topics,” said Cox. “I am proud of our team and the opportunity to showcase the exceptional contributions KCU makes to the field of osteopathic medicine.”
